Two farmworkers rights lawsuits have been filed in federal court in McAllen over the past week.

The first lawsuit was filed on Monday by three Rio Grande Valley farmworkers who labored in corn and soy bean fields in Iowa.

The group alleges that they were allegedly fired when they tried to hold their employer to promises made about their work arrangments.

The second lawsuit was filed on Tuesday by a former Hidalgo County resident who worked or a seed corn producer in Indiana.

The woman claims the company allegedly provided inadequate housing.

Federal court records show that lawsuits were filed by Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid on behalf of the immigrants.
