Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño told Action 4 News that a Customs official jailed for murdering his wife has been placed on on suicide watch.

Mission police arrested and charged Joseph Anthony Mongiello with the murder of his wife Lindsay.

Mongiello allegedly confessed that he shot his wife during a Tuesday night incident.

Sheriff Treviño said Mongiello has some superficial wounds on his hands and has mentioned wanting to commit suicide.

Hidalgo County Jail officials placed Mongiello in isolation. Treviño said detention officers are checking on him every 10 to 15 minutes.

Mongiello is expected to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

Treviño said he wants to do everything possible to ensure Mongiello's safety as he awaits trial.

Why is it these guys always "mention" suicide? He did not "mention" wanting to kill his wife! He just did it...sounds like he just wants the "poor me" attention.
I hope her daughters are coping with their loss, our sympathies to her family.
