A suspended customs official is facing serious charges.
Joseph Anthony Mongiello oversaw U.S. Customs and Border Protection operations in Rio Grande City.
Customs officials reassigned him after an August 23, 2008 accident that resulted in DWI charges.
On Tuesday night, Mission police were called to Mongiello's where they found him outside.
Mongiello told officers that he had shot his wife Lindsay.
He now faces murder charges.
Action 4 News has posted both the accident report in the August 2008 accident and probable cause affidavit filed against him for his wife's murder.
