AJO, ARIZ. -- The U.S. Border Patrol agent's union reported that Mexican soldiers crossed into U.S. territory and held an agent captive at gunpoint during a Sunday night incident.

The National Boder Patrol Council Local 2544 in Tuscon reported on its website that reported that the incident occured near Ajo, Arizona.

The union website reported that the soldiers returned to Mexico without further incident after reinforcements arrived to confront them.

It's not clear why Mexican soldiers were on U.S. territory but union officials said in their website that Mexican soldiers have been known to protect Mexican drug gangs and migrant smugglers.

"Unfortunately, this sort of behavior by Mexican military personnel has been going on for years," Union Local 2544 of the National Border Patrol Council said on its Web page. "They are never held accountable, and the United States government will undoubtedly brush this off as another case of, 'Oh well, they didn't know they were in the United States.' "

The union website said Tuscon Sector agents were grateful that the incident ended without gunfire but reserving further comment on the issue until agency leaders handle the situation.

United Press International reported that both State Department and Border Patrol officials in Washington DC declined to comment on the incident on Wednesday.

Yea yea yea, they didn't know they were in the American side. So why did they run back to Mexican side for. In Mexico these militares can push any one around but not this time! El ejercito is as corrupt as all of their government is. I'm glad our Border Patrol agents are ok and no shots were fired...What if there had been gunfire? The Mexican Government would of covered by saying it wasn't our soldados....so again "Yea yea yea".

they didnt know

Well then put up a wall so when their little noses hit the wall the know it U S A

Now do you know why they want to put a wall up?

This is just one of the reason the border wall is going up. If you haven’t noticed the Mexican military is VERY corrupted and a danger to the safety of our US borders. I think that the valley is very much uninformed of the issue going on with our border area, and it might take a worse incident to make people realize that our government is just looking after our safety. Thank God the Border Patrol agents went home safe to their families.

The Mexican "Military"

The "military" knew exactly where they were. How many time have you read a news story about the U.S. Border Patrol unknowingly crossing into Mexico? ZERO! It's not as if the border markers and barbed wire fences are only visible from the U.S. side of the border.
