The election results came in Tuesday night and Texas Democrats went to the polls in twice the numbers as Republicans.
Statewide figures show that 2,856,813 Texans voted in the Democrat presidential primary compared to 1,380,908 for the Republicans.
With 1,452,776 ballots, Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton received more votes in Texas than all 11 Republican candidates combined.
Democrat presidential rival Barack Obama received 26,355 votes less than the Texas Republican total.
Other statewide races showed similar numbers.
Texas Secretary of State figures show that 2,163,477 people voted in the Democrat Primary for U.S. Senate compared to 1,216,732 ballots in the Republican Primary.
Democrat nominee Rick Noriega received 1,102,825 votes in the primary compared to 991,474 votes for incumbent John Cornyn in the Republican Primary.
Observers attributed the high Democrat turnout to the highly-publicized and contested presidential race, but were not sure if it would stay high in the November general election.

Figures show that 86,241 Democrats came out to vote in Hidalgo County compared to 5,726 Republicans.
