Re-gifting... just about all of us have done it. In fact the third Thursday in December has been labeled by re-giftable.com as National Regifting Day.

But what's the best way to pass off a gift? Some people might think it's kind of fishy. Well you know, that's because they haven't mastered the art of regifting...

Label your re-giftable items with when you received it and from whom, so you don't give it back to the original person. Remove all gift wrapping. You never know when Aunt Edna has written your name on the bottom of the box. Keep a catalog of items you have, to help you find the right gift for the right person.

Even manners mavens have ideas about re-gifting... for example the Emily Post Institute says it's OK to re-gift. Just make sure the gift is brand new, in its original box, wasn't hand made or specially picked out for you. And above all, the person you're giving it to is really going to love it. Make sure it's something the recipient would really love.

When in doubt? Don't do it.

Bottom line? It's OK to regift... just be thoughtful and organized and nobody will ever know... Want more tips? Go to MoneyTalksNews.com and search for "re-gifting."
