Harlingen residents have watched the construction of the city's first Longhorn SteakHouse for the past eight months and now the time is here.

The much-anticipated restaurant now has a grand opening date.

City officials told Action 4 News they are holding a grand opening ceremony at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 3rd.

LongHorn Steakhouse will join Logan's and Texas Roadhouse as steak dining options for the area.

The original LongHorn Steakhouse opened in Atlanta back in 1982 but today, the chain is owned by the Orlando-based Darden Restaurants, Inc.

There are some 370 LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants in 35 states.

Of those 370 restuarants, there are 18 in Texas. Two of those 18 restaurants are in the Rio Grande Valley in McAllen.
