There will be more competition and more options for fitness in Harlingen following a big announcment on Tuesday.

Valle Vista Mall officals announced that Gold's Gym will be opening a 27,000-square foot facility there in May.

It's the first Gold's Gym for Harlingen but the fourth for the Rio Grande Valley.  The fitness chain has gyms in McAllen, Mission and Brownsville.

The Harlingen gym will be located between the Food Court and JC Penney.

Officials said the state-of-the-art gym will have will have full-service locker rooms, a juice bar, spinning, tanning, racquetball courts, boxing studio, aqua fitness, steam rooms, saunas and jacuzzis.

There will also be fitness classes and a cardio cinema where members can watch movies in a darkened room while exercising on cardio equipment.

Gold's Gym has more than 700 locations in 42 states and 30 countries.
