Share Your Life Through Your Mobile Phone
It is increasingly easier and easier to collaborate and share your life with the world through your mobile phone.
In the upcoming posts, I am going to share with you some of the better services I have discovered for content creation from your mobile phone.
Except for long writing projects like this, most of my content is created through my phone.
Mobile phones are transforming from a simple communication device to a tool that captures our daily lives, whether it be by voice, photograph, video, or text.
You will see lifestreaming become more and more popular.
Here is an overview of some of the services you can use to produce web content on your phone.
Text
- Simple text messaging and multimedia messaging
- Twitter (http://www.twitter.com) - popular messaging platform. Allows you to keep in touch with any number of people.
- identi.ca (http://www.identi.ca) - open source version of Twitter.
- Brightkite (http://www.brightkite.com) - allows you to share location-specific information. You can check-in at a location and post information about it, including photos.
Email
- Regular POP email - most basic of email accounts.
- IMAP mail - keeps your mailbox synchronized with your email client.
- Instant Messaging
- Most phones from the major mobile networks have instant messaging clients that allow you to chat through your phone. Most of these are text message based.

Phone calls. The technology is more than 100 years old. It is tried and true. It is still effective. We can transmit a great deal of information through voice communications.
Going mobile has not changed this at all. If you have a ton of mobile minutes to burn, you definitely have options for broadcasting your voice across the Internets. But, first, let us start with receiving broadcasts.

There is plenty of audio content available on the web. How do you listen to that on your phone? Well, here are some services that let you listen to recordings by other people.
Broadcasting Voice On-Demand
Sometimes you see something or have an idea you just have to share with everybody right away. There are services that allow you to call in, leave your recording, and then have it posted to other sites or even twitter.
- Utterli - Utterli allows you to post and listen to public messages. You can even have it post your voice to your blog.
- Phonewik (http://www.phonewik.com) - One number to call to record your messages. Another number for listeners to call to hear.
- Cinch (http://cinch.blogtalkradio.com) - no frills recordings that go straight to RSS. Takes some work to connect to other sites.
- Talkshoe (http://www.talkshoe.com) - Very similar to Blogtalkradio except that you have the option to record on demand.
- Hipcast - Affordable podcasting platform. You dial a number to make your recording. Can be set to autopost to your blog. Also works with video.
Scheduled Voice Broadcasts
Host a radio show. Did you know that you can now host your own radio show on the Internet simply by using your phone? Below are some services you can use to create your own live show.

- Qik (http://www.qik.com) - Live video streaming from your phone.
- Utterli - social media by phone, allows you to post video from your phone.
- Youtube (http://www.youtube.com) - upload video from your phone.
- Kyte (http://www.kyte.tv) - upload video from your phone. Your account is set up as a channel that you produce with your content.
