Authorities temporarily issued an Amber Alert for three children who were last seen in a small town outside of San Antonio.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials reported that investigators were looking for 9-year-old Jose Olvera, 8-year-old Juan Garcia and 7-year-old Ann Garcia.

The children were allegedly taken by a woman named Elida Leal prompting a statewide Amber Alert to be issued at 9:14 p.m. Thursday.

They were last seen in a maroon Kia Spectra with Texas license plates BBV 744.

Investigators reported that the license plates were stolen and are actually registered to another car.

KENS-TV reported that authorities located the children in Kirby, a town just northeast of San Antonio around 10:20 p.m. Thursday.

The San Antonio-based TV station reported that Child Protective Services had taken the children from their family and placed them in foster care.

The three children were reportedly taken by their biological grandmother when one of them was sick and a school nurse with out of date contact information called her to pick the child up.

KENS reported that law enforcement officials were concerned that the grandmother was going to take the children to Piedras Negras, which is across the border from Eagle Pass.
