The Marine Military Academy will host its 47th Anniversary Parade this upcoming Friday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. and they are encouraging the public to attend.

It will be held on the MMA Parade Grounds and it is completely free to the community.

Public Relations & Marketing Director for MMA, Andi Atkinson and Cadet William Bood stopped by Action Sunrise on Wednesday to talk more about this event.

It has been held since MMA opened in 1965, but the parade also celebrates the 237th Anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps.

The parade kicks off Parent's Weekend in which parents from all over the globe travel to MMA to visit their sons.

They will get here just in time for the 47th Anniversary Birthday Ball, which is the highpoint of the year for the academy.

It's a formal military ball with a traditional cake-cutting ceremony and mother-and-son dance.

This event will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 3.

If you'd like to attend the parade, MMA asks that you arrive around 15 minutes early to grab your spot.

For more information on the parade or birthday ball, you can call (956) 421-9235.
