Incredible progress has been made throughout the years to find a cure for those living with Cystic Fibrosis, but the lives of young people with the disease are still cut far too short.
Ana Escobar and Reva Ayala with Great Strides, stopped by Action 4 Sunrise to discuss the upcoming Cystic Fibrosis 5k Walk/Run in
Sharyland.
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs, liver and digestive system. Nearly 30,000 U.S. children and adults have CF with the disease reaching 70,000 people worldwide. On average, those who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis live only into their late 30's.
The event provides opportunities for everyone in the Rio Grande Valley community to get involved by forming teams through your workplace, clubs, organizations and with friends or family.
This walk/run will be held on March 23 at the Grove Amphitheater at the Sharyland Plantation. Check in for participants will begin at 8 a.m. Runners will be first to begin the race followed by those that choose to walk.
