Many families will be cooking up a beautiful Thanksgiving bird tomorrow, and preparations may already be underway to make the big day go flawlessly.

Some will choose to fry their turkey this holiday, though it may taste extremely good, there are more precautions you will need to take to keep yourself safe.

Captain Gabriel Espinoza with the Edinburg Fire Department, stopped by Action 4 Sunrise to help you keep your family safe from potential harms.

If you'll be choosing this option to cook your turkey, Capt. Espinoza says you will want to wear long sleeve clothing to prevent oil splash landing on your skin. Also, keep a fire extinguisher nearby as your defense to tame any fire than could break out.

If a fire does happen to spread, he does advise that you first call 911 before any other action is taken.
