Car submerged in canal, driver trapped

Texas DPS: Driver of Toyota rescued 12 hours later.

The driver of a Toyota passenger car lost control and rolled over into a canal on Saturday at midnight.

He was not rescued until 12 hours later. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said he was able to survive with air pockets in the vehicle while it was submerged.

The crash happened on Mile 17 ½ west of Rooth Road.

The driver of a Toyota over corrected and rolled into the water.

According to DPS, alcohol and speed may have been factors in the crash.
