Jonathan Treviño, arrested for being involved in the “Panama Unit” scandal, has requested for extended curfew hours to attend his brother’s wedding.
Treviño, son of Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño, has been under home confinement under very strict conditions since posting bond back in December.
The former Mission Police Officer was a part of an anti-drug task force known as the “Panama Unit”.
He, along with three other task force members, are accused of taking bribes to escort drug loads across the Rio Grande Valley.
Treviño submitted a request to attend his brother’s wedding rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and wedding.
He filed a request asking if he could be allowed out from 4:30 to 11:00 p.m. the day of the rehearsals and 2:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. the day of the wedding.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Randy Crane granted Treviño permission to extend his curfew hours for the two events.
He is not allowed to drink alcohol under the order of U.S. Magistrate Judge Dorina Ramos.
Treviño will be his brother’s best man in the wedding.
