A father and son were arrested for assaulting two Harlingen police officers early Sunday morning.

Around midnight, police responded to a call about a disturbance on the 700 block of Curtis Street.

When officers arrived ,they had to break up a fight between two men identified as Richard Galvan and Richard Galvan Jr.

As they were going to stop the fight, Harlingen police said the men turned and began attacking them as they were being arrested.

Police were able to control the situation and take the father and son into custody.

The two officers suffered minor injuries and were released back on duty.

Galvan and Galvan Jr. face assaulting a public servant and resisting arrest charges.
