A Harlingen man was arrested for taking off with another man’s truck Saturday morning.

Ramiro Escamilla was at a “get together” on the 800 block of North A Street when he asked the owner of the Maroon 2001 Chevrolet S-10 truck if he could borrow his car to go to the convenience store.

The owner of the truck said Escamilla never came back with the vehicle.

On Saturday afternoon, Harlingen police spotted the missing car in the front yard of a house exactly a block away on B Street.

Officers made contact with Escamilla and spotted the truck keys in his living room.

Escamilla was placed under arrest and taken to Harlingen City Jail.

He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a state jail felony, and his bond was set at $30,000.
