An uproar over recent comments made by Chick-Fil-A's COO against gay marriage clearly offended many of the LGBT community.

It has resulted in a nationwide protest.

However, one local group organizer said the protests planned outside Chick-Fil-A restaurants across the US has little to do with COO Dan Cathy's beliefs, but rather who the company supports.

"We're not trying to hate against Chick-Fil-A or the CEO,” said LEZ GIRLS RGV member Alejandra Gutierrez. “Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. The problem is, the money that is used to buy the products, Chick-Fil-A is endorsing a lot of companies and organizations that are used to lobby our government and maintain the inequalities in our LGBT community."

Cathy has been quoted saying he believes in the "Biblical definition of the family unit," and "god's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to redefine what marriage is about.”

He has admitted to donating millions of dollars to reported anti-gay organizations.

Gutierrez says that was enough to make her stop eating Chick-Fil-A, and stand up against them in protest.

"We just want to get awareness for the boycotting that we're doing against Chick-Fil-A, and why we’re doing it,” said Gutierrez. “Because we don't want our money to be poured into all those organizations."

The recent comments come as a smack in the face to Gutierrez and her partner.

She said they will respond by participating in a “Kiss Day” this Friday, in which members of the LGBT community will kiss their significant others outside Chick-Fil-A's across the valley.

"We've come so far to get our rights,” Gutierrez said. “Why not the LGBT community?"
