May is a busy month in politics across the state of Texas.

Elections will be held at the city, state, and national level, with respective election days on May 12th and 29th.

But did you know the Rio Grande Valley is known as one of the areas with the lowest voter turnout, despite being one of the most densely populated?

In fact, Hidalgo County is among the top 10 largest and most populated, but only has a 2 in 10 turnout.  That is the same for the rest of the Valley, compared to a statewide average of 6 in 10.

The Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas, or AACT, is looking to change that, by bumping up that number to 6.5 in to, or 65%.

Elisa Alvarado with AACT was on Action 4 Sunrise this morning to better explain.
