The recent split between the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College left UTB without a mascot.

TSC is keeping the Scorpion mascot leaving UTB searching for a new one.

After going through dozens of suggestions, UTB has narrowed it down to five finalists:

• Ocelot
• Vaquero
• Bull Shark
• Jaguarundi
• Parrot

UTB is asking students, alumni and residents of the Valley to share their thoughts about what the new mascot should be.

The school is asking for comments and votes on Wednesday and Thursday the UTB Facebook fan page or on Twitter at @UTBrownsville using #UTBmascot hashtag.

The winning mascot will be announced on Friday in the Student Union El Gran Salón.

For more information, visit utb.edu/mascot or contact the Mascot Search Committee at mascot@utb.edu.
