McAllen shoppers may soon need to buy reusable grocery bags to save themselves some cash.

City leaders are looking into a plastic bag ban similar to ones in Brownsville and other Texas cities.

McAllen City Commissioner Scott Crane spoke to Action 4 News about the proposed ban.

Crane said the bags have littered fields across the area and are clogging up storm drains.

The city commissioner said similar bans passed across the country and have been well received by the public.

Crane said the city still need to research the idea before a final decision is reached.

What do you think?
Do you think McAllen city leaders should enact a plastic bag ban?
