As a Weslaco family buries a fallen soldier, a Brownsville family is mourning the loss of another Rio Grande Valley soldier killed while serving overseas.

Family members told Action 4 News that the 26-year-old Andres Zermeño died in the line of duty.

U.S. Army Lt. Zermeño was out on patrol with other soldiers in Afghanistan when his convoy came under fire from a rocket-propelled grenade on Sunday.

Family members said they were told Zermeño and everyone else aboard the vehicle were killed in the incident.

Zermeño's family spoke with Action 4 News at their Cameron Park home.

They said the fallen soldier leaves behind a wife and two children who live in San Antonio.

Zermeño is the 42nd Valley soldier killed while serving overseas against the War On Terror.

Action 4 News will provide more information as it becomes available.
