For years, Cameron County residents have been jealous of their neighbors in Hidalgo and Starr Counties.

Shoppers in Mission, San Juan, Pharr and Rio Grande City have long been able to stroll through the aisles of HEB Plus! stores.

The HEB Plus! concept of groceries and department store goods is gaining popularity throughout the Lone Star State.

Cameron County residents have wondered when they would get one to call their own.

Instead of building a new stand alone HEB Plus! store, company officials decided to remodel an HEB store off Paredes Line Road and Ruben Torres Boulevard in Brownsville.

The new store had its big debut on Friday morning where employees showed off their new bakery, tortilleria, deli, expanded produce area and pharmacy.

Now that Brownsville has an HEB Plus!, residents in Harlingen and San Benito are gonna want their own! LOL
