Bert Ogden is ready to shift into fifth gear.

Crews have spent the summer making drainage improvements on a piece of land off West Expressway 83 in Harlingen.

Bert Ogden Hyundai is moving out of downtown Harlingen and to a new dealership between Tamm Lane and Altas Palmas Road.

A Wednesday morning groundbreaking ceremony highlighted local excitement for the project.

A who’s who list of Harlingen political and business leaders showed up for the event, which is expected to change the auto dealership landscape.

Construction will start soon and the new dealership, which expected to be completed in December will have a selection of 400 Hyundai vehicles.

Bert Ogden’s Kia dealership in downtown Harlingen is expected to follow some time in 2012.

The move will provide more inventory and selection for consumers while city leaders hope the it will result in more sales and sales tax dollars.
