Construction continues for several projects along the Valle Vista Mall and Dixieland Road corridor in Harlingen.

But one new project will change how children’s birthdays are celebrated.

Crews are working to build the Rio Grande Valley's third Chuck E. Cheese restaurant along frontage road of Expressway 83.

The $1.4 million dollar restaurant will be located next to Logan’s Roadhouse, Kohl’s and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Project manager’s told Action 4 News that the 14,500 square-foot restaurant is expect to add 45 to 65 new jobs.

Harlingen city officials issued a building permit for the project in early April.

A company spokeswoman said the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant is expected to have its grand opening in early September.

The Harlingen location will the third for the company, which has already has restaurants in Brownsville and McAllen.

Ramiro Aleman with the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation told Action 4 News to expect more construction on other projects.

Officials announced that a Longhorn Steakhouse would be coming next to the Bass Pro Shops back in March.

Aleman said construction for the steakhouse should start in June and be complete before Thanksgiving.
