One of the Rio Grande Valley's newest businesses is offering a unique opportunity: free burritos for a year.

The burritos chain Freebirds is officially opening its doors at the Mission-Sharyland Towne Crossing on Thursday morning.

Although a staple for college students in Austin, College Station and other Texas cities, it's the first location for the chain in the Valley.

As per tradition, the first 25 customers inside the door for the 11 a.m. opening get one year's supply of burritos.

That's 52 burritos, or one per week.

Organizers are expecting overnight campers to arrive on Wednesday evening.

Action 4 News spoke to Freebirds spokeswoman Sara Barker. She said the restaurant will provide food and free Wi-Fi for overnight campers.

Wednesday, November 9, 2011: FREEBIRDS Mission will partner with the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and again at 5:00pm-7:00pm.
