Authorities are investigating a chase that ended with a crash in Peñitas sending eight people to the hospital.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers are investigating the incident.

It all started off Expressway 83 and Conway Avenue in Mission early Monday morning.

A state trooper tried to pull over a vehicle for failing to yield the right of way but the driver allegedly refused to stop.

The driver led the state trooper on a chase that ended eight miles away on FM 1427 and Expressway 83 in Peñitas.

Investigators said that the driver crashed into a palm tree. 

Paramedics rushed the driver and his seven passengers to local hospitals.

Their medical conditions are not known at this time.
