Weslaco police are searching for two men who attempted to steal over $800 in merchandise from Walmart off Texas Boulevard.

25-year-old Ricardo Rubio, Jr and 24-year-old Jesse Lee Loya, both of Brownsville have eluded police since March 1st.

Investigators say one of the suspects attempted to walk out of the store with the merchandise in the cart, when he was approached by a female employee.

She asked for his receipt for the items, but the suspect ignored her and kept walking.

When the employee grabbed the cart in attempts to stop him, police say the suspect pushed the cart at her, knocking her over backwards.

A customer ran to help the employee and struggled with the suspect.

At that time, the getaway driver drove up causing the shoplifter to fall, running over his partner’s arm.

Despite the struggle, both suspects were able to get in the car and drove off, leaving the merchandise behind.

Witnesses were unable to get a clear view of the license plates because the suspects had placed a pieces of paper over them.

Rubio and Loya were pulled over in La Feria for obscuring the license plate, however they were unaware of the crime they had committed in Weslaco and were let go.

If you have any information on the suspects whereabouts, you are urged to contact Weslaco Crime Stoppers at (956) 968-8477.

If your tip leads to an arrest, you could be eligible for a cash reward.
