At what age can a teen start driver education?
A teen can start the classroom phase of driver education at 14 but must be fifteen to get his permit and begin the driving phase. Therefore most students begin the course at age 15.
How long is the program?
The program consists of 32 hours of classroom instruction (16 days / 2 hrs per day), 7 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, 7 hours of in-car observation, and 20 additional hours of driving (10 hours at night). The contract with us is open for one year although a student can get his/her license if they have completed the program, have had the instruction permit for at least 6 months, and be at least 16 years old….so someone coming in right at 15 years of age will have to hold on to the permit until age 16.
