Granola Squares

Makes 3-4 Servings

4 cups quick oats

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup regular sugar

1 cup (any) nuts, chopped*

1 8 oz. bag of baking chips (any flavor)*

2/3 cup of sunflower kernels

3/4 cup melted butter

2/3 cup of honey or (1/2 cup honey and 1/3 cup syrup)

1 tbsp. vanilla extract

Mix well the first six ingredients.  Mix together the butter, honey and vanilla and add to the dry ingredients.  Stir until evenly mixed.  It will be crumbly in texture.

Grease two oblong baking pans and press oat mixture in to pans firmly and evenly.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 18 minutes, till the mixture is light brown and slightly bubbly.

Remove from oven and let cool about 10 minutes before cutting into squares with a spatula.

Allow to cool completely, in fridge if possible, before removing from the pan.  Squares tend to be sticky, so keeping cool till serving is desirable.

*Create your own favorite combination, such as chocolate and peanuts or butterscotch and pecans, etc.*
