Baked Cherry "Donuts"
(1/3 to 1/2 the calories of regular donuts)

1 ½ cups sugar

1 cup melted butter/blend

2 tbsp. cinnamon

 2 tsp. cardamom powder (optional)

2 tubes refrigerated biscuits (Flaky buttermilk, any size)

Cherry preserves

Mix sugar and spices, dip each biscuit in the butter, shake off excess, and then roll in sugar mixture; space evenly on a non-stick foil covered baking sheet that has been sprayed with baking spray.

Make an inch crater in the middle of each biscuit and fill crater with 1-2 tsp. of the preserves.  Bake at 360*F till golden brown.  (15 minutes or more depending on the size of biscuits.)

Serve warm or cooled.  Seal tightly for storage to prevent drying out.

**You can use any flavor of preserves, peach, strawberry, raspberry, etc.

Cook’s Note:  Use a spatula to separate & loosen biscuits hot out of the oven or they will stick together.
