Social Media Club RGV is stepping things up with our first event, called Social Media Camp McAllen.

We will be hosting the event at the historic Cine El Rey from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday, August 14th.

There is no cost to attend; but space is limited (something about a fire code).

You can register for the event on-line or find more details Social Media Club RGV's website.

The event is going to be a bit different from your typical conference.

We are using a Barcamp model, which has been used successfully over the years.

In case you are wondering what the heck a Barcamp is, we generally call it an unconference or a user-generated conference.

Typically, when you go to a conference, you have vendors teaching you how wonderful their product or service is.

In between, you have a few presentations that have some useful information.

Unconferences are different in that anybody attending is welcome to present on their field of expertise.

Audience interaction is encouraged. It's about you and what you want to learn.

This format theoretically sounds chaotic; but, there are many successful unconferences over the years.

So, to help attendees adjust to the unconference experience.

We have some great speakers lined up through the day; but have openings for breakout sessions, which we encourage.

We are seeking additional sponsors for the event. If you would like more details, you can call me at (956) 205-0706, or by email at shaine@shainemata.com.

Most importantly, make plans to attend. See you there!
